Christmas Shopping

As Beijing says out with the old and in with the new, we launched our online design competition Beijing Past and Present, to find emerging design talent to represent the ever-evolving pace of Beijing.

Presented by Anyshopstyle.com, Time Out Beijing, Time Out 北京 and CreativCulture.com the competition reached out to hundreds of amateur budding designers, to find the top three winning designs in time for Beijing Design Week 2011 where their creations were featured on limited edition T-shirts and tote bags in our fashion pop-up shop.

The tees and tote bags were so successful that we decided to print some more in time for Christmas, so snap yours up today!

Visit AnyShopStyle.cn today before they are sold out!

Now you can pay cash upon delivery! Just email sales@anyshopstyle.cn with your order, your delivery address during working hours and your contact details.

Some information about the winners:

First place Xin Guo, China

Profession Exhibition designer

Design ‘Change on the Wheel’

What was your inspiration? I identify topics through a very natural thought process. Because I’ve grown up in an evolving Beijing, I see the past and present reflected in my own personal development.

What does your design mean to you? Happiness. I am not good with words – the structure of my design is a way through which I can express myself.

Second place S Tien Hsiang Chow, Canada

Profession Urbanist

Design ‘Single Line Beijing Doodle’

What was your inspiration? The north-south axis of Beijing. I like graphics to be simple, subtle and ironic.

What does your design mean to you? Imagination and possibilities.

Third place Chipsou, France

Profession Freelance illustrator, graphic designer

Design ‘Yoghurt Star’

What was your inspiration? Travel, my childhood, The Little Prince, Manga, Studio Ghibli animation, expressionism, the music in my earphones...

What does your design mean to you? It’s a travel memory. Street yoghurt was the coolest thing I saw in Beijing when I was here in 2010. It’s such a vintage thing.
