Nyemo County of Tibet Autonomous Region, a quiet and peaceful place has, in the past few days, turned into a bustling and noisy market place as local residents took out to the streets to make special purchase for the approaching New Year.

The variety of goods range from Tibetan distinctive life necessities that symbolize auspiciousness to clothes and furniture. There are colourful sutra streamers, butter sculptures and Chemar(a box used in grand occasions, seperated into compartments containing auspicious stuff such as highland barley and kernel),

On the busy street, streams of people flooded in shops and stalls, big and small, buying different kinds of new year goods including fresh flowers, nuts, sutra streamers, Tibetan style curtains and scented cloth. Besides, a series of promotions and sales have added the holiday atmosphere.

Nowadays, local farmers and herdsmen are enjoying their work and life as their income constantly bumps up.
