Incoming: Backstreet Boys
Following an abortive attempt to bring their joint tour with New Kids on the Block to Shanghai last year, American man-band Backstreet Boys are set to play Shanghai Grand Stage in May as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations. Yes, 20th. The band originally formed in 1993, though it wasn't until 1996 that they released their eponymous debut album internationally, and not until the following year that the record made its US debut.
The Boys, who have been on and off since Kevin Richardson quit the group in 2006, have recently embarked on a massive international tour to celebrate 20 years together. Richardson has rejoined and the quintet - the biggest selling boy band of all time with 130 million record sales worldwide - were recently given a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. In other pop show news, rumours persist that Justin Bieber is set to perform in Shanghai this year, though sources have told us it's a remote possibility at best at this stage. More likely is that Beyonce will return to China with a show in Shanghai toward the end of the year or early 2014.
