Nadal wins his 8th French Open title
Rafael Nadal beat David Ferrer in straight sets to win his eighth French Open title at Roland Garros here on Sunday.
The third seed Nadal won 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 over the fourth-seeded fellow Spaniard Ferrer to become the most successful player at the French Open history.
The 27-year-old Nadal, who won his first title here in 2005, has lost only won match since he lost to robin Soderlin in the round of 16 in 2009. It is also his 12th Grand Slam title.
"It's one of the most special ones," the victorious Nadal said to the crowd. "In the last year I have had some low moments but without my family I would not have done this. Without my physio I could not have done this. I never realised something like this could happen for me."
