DevTracker Hightlights For The Week of July 5, 2012

Categories

This week’s DevTracker highlights are a bit light because of the holiday, but the hints of what might be coming in 1.4 continue. Community Coordinator Allison Berryman describes the status of several crafting bugs and gives advice when using the group-finding tool. Senior Designer Jesse Sky explains why Denova Nightmare mode is taking longer than expected. Hit the jump to see all the highlights.

Allison Berryman clarifies exactly how the Legacy of Crafting perk works.

Allison Berryman
The | d3 gold buy Legacy tooltip could be more clear - we'll look at improving it in the future. The perk itself (as noted earlier in the thread) does increase the chance of getting an augment slot on items that can have them. For items that can't, it gives you an increased chance for the effect of a critical when crafting those items (like producing an extra item).
Allison Berryman updates the status of a crafting bug affecting augmented | d3 gold eu items created before game update 1.3.

Allison Berryman
Thanks for your patience on this issue everyone; we have some more information for you about the upcoming fix!

If you have a crit-crafted item created before 1.3 that received the incorrect tier of augment slot (and you have NOT upgraded the augment slot to a higher tier), that slot’s tier will be corrected with the fix we are applying during an upcoming patch. If the augment | d3 items slot is empty, the augment slot tier will be decided by the level of the item. If an augment is installed, the tier of the slot will be determined by the level of that augment.

If you have already manually upgraded your augment slots to a higher tier, we’ll ask that you contact Customer Service after the fix is deployed. Thanks!
Jesse Sky hints at some of the changes coming to the Nightmare mode of Explosive Conflict, including new loot and mechanics.

Jesse Sky
Nightmare Denova is gw2 gold coming. It has taken longer than we'd like, because we've been reworking NM to be a full-fledged difficulty mode with its own loot and its own mechanics. Trust me, we want to put it in your hands as soon as we can.
Allison Berryman offers tips to experiencing content through the new group finder tool.

Allison Berryman
Even when you do get a group together via the Group Finder (and not the "old-fashioned" way), communication is always going to help your group be successful. Now that the Group Finder guild wars 2 guide is out, lots of players may be trying out Flashpoints or Operations that they haven't tried before.

If you've never done the content before, it helps to speak up! Let your group know with something as simple as, "Hey, I've never beaten this Flashpoint before - can someone explain the bosses/mechanics to me?" Generally, someone else in the group will be able to offer you a brief explanation. Letting people know that you've never been but are willing to pay attention and learn is always much better than making a mistake!

If you have done the content before, you can help by stepping up to explain. Some people may be afraid of how a group will react if they're new, so take the lead and help! If someone seems to be having trouble (or if they're doing something wrong) and you can offer tips, do it! Remember, everyone has to do something for the first time once, and it doesn't help to get upset with people right away - give people a chance and some explanation and encouragement.

Good communication is definitely a key to success, so speak up!
