The unit generates extremely low levels of ozone and ions due to corona effect and reacts with a catalyst like sub-stance in a consumable refill catridge . This results in generation of hydroxyl radicals that can react with bacteria such as MRSA and E-Coli and prevent healthcare associated infections.
